Melissa Steeves (1) (1)_edited_edited.pn

Dr. Missy Steeves is a school administrator, classroom teacher, management and educational consultant, and adult education facilitator with more than 18 years experience. Missy earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Transformative Leadership, with a focus on Organizational Behavior and Indigenous Education, and a Master of Education (M.Ed) from the University of Portland.  She also holds a Bachelor of Secondary Education (B.Ed) from the University of Alberta. In addition to her work in schools, and public and private industries, she has had the privilege of participating in secondments with Alberta Education and the Alberta Assessment Consortium. She also worked as an Association Instructor with the Alberta Teachers’ Association. Her work has taken her across Canada and Internationally to facilitate professional development sessions centred on assessment, mental health, and trauma-informed practice. Her time spent in inclusive classrooms entrenched her passion for learning through the lens of trauma-informed care. Missy understands the need to lay a strong foundation for success, including strategies to support organization, regulation, managing concurrent assignments, and developing learning confidence. She truly believes that achievement means meeting and supporting students where they are at. Dr. Steeves has forayed her passion for trauma-informed learning into private industry professional development, combining a trauma-informed lens to deliverable goals to improve workplace culture and productivity. Dr. Steeves has served on various committees and Boards, most recently as a Board member for the St. Albert Public Library, and volunteers with charities such as Santa's Anonymous. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her son play hockey, traveling, and reading.
